Volunteer Costs 2024

C.A.R.E. baboon sanctuary is run by volunteers and the volunteer program has been running for over 20 years; helping to fund the running costs of the Centre.

Whilst we employ 9-14 local dedicated, permanent South Africans from nearby villages the main bulk of the Management and Supervisory team are at C.A.R.E. on a voluntary basis.  The running costs of the centre are vast and therefore volunteers are vital.

We ask all volunteers to make a minimum donation to C.A.R.E. which covers food, accommodation, training time, education (all volunteers are provided with an extensive education and training program) and also funds some of the day-to-day running costs; to feed and care for the animals you will be coming to help.

As the animals at C.A.R.E. are not classified as an Endangered Species, it is very difficult for our team to raise enough funds to run the centre; the volunteer donation and help is essential.  Don't be put off by money though; through crowd-funding, bake sales or taking on an additional job and paying over a time period making your African Dream a reality can be easier than you imagine.  We are also on hand to offer fundraising ideas, materials and advice.
