Baboon proof your house

Save Your Belongings & Save Baboon Lives

Good News; It is Possible to Protect Your House & Protect Wildlife

Secure Entry Points

Focus vulnerable areas such as windows, doors, vents, chimneys, and gaps in the roof.

Remove Attractants

Primates are often enticed by food or other attractants, so it's crucial to remove these temptations to discourage their presence near your house.

Implement Deterrents

Using deterrents can help discourage primates from approaching your house.

Secure The Entry Points

Achieving coexistence with baboons requires understanding their behavior and implementing safe strategies to protect your home. By creating a baboon-proof environment, securing doors and windows, sealing entry points, and employing humane deterrent methods, you can discourage baboons from approaching your home.

Remember to always respect local regulations and seek advice from wildlife or animal control authorities if needed. By fostering a harmonious relationship with baboons, we can appreciate their presence while ensuring the safety and comfort of our homes.

The first step is to secure all potential entry points that primates could use to access your house. Inspect the exterior of your house and identify any openings or vulnerable areas. Focus on windows, doors, vents, chimneys, and gaps in the roof. Take the following actions:

  • Install sturdy screens or mesh on windows, vents, and openings to prevent primates from entering.

  • Ensure that doors are secure, and consider using deadbolt locks or latch guards to make them primate-proof.

  • Seal any gaps or cracks in the walls or roof to eliminate potential entry points.

Remove Any Temptations!

Primates are often enticed by food or other attractants, so it's crucial to remove these temptations to discourage their presence near your house. Follow these steps:

  • Properly store garbage in primate-proof containers with tight-fitting lids. Consider using heavy-duty bins or locking mechanisms to prevent access.

  • Clean up fallen fruits, nuts, or bird feed from your property promptly.

  • Avoid leaving pet food or water outside, as these can also attract primates. Feed your pets indoors or remove the food and water bowls after they finish eating.

Safe Home Protection Methods

While creating an environment that deters baboons from your house is crucial, it's equally important to use humane and safe methods to protect your property. Here are some effective techniques:

  • Electric Fencing: Installing electric fencing around your property can be an effective deterrent. Use a professional to ensure the fencing is correctly installed and complies with local regulations. Properly maintained electric fences can discourage baboons without causing harm.

  • Primate-Resistant Barriers: Erecting physical barriers like mesh or netting around vulnerable areas of your house & garden can prevent baboon access. Ensure these barriers are sturdy, and without any holes.

  • Deterrents and Scare Tactics: Employing deterrents and scare tactics can help discourage primates from entering your property. This might include the use of toy snakes, sling-shots, loud noises, or even chasing them away.
