End the large-scale destruction of habitats and killing of South Africa's primates, a crisis so severe it could lead to the loss of the primates;
Provide a safe haven and chance of freedom for the 500 orphaned baboons at The Centre for Animal Rehabilitation and Education in South Africa;
Restore African habitat through balanced, sustainable, community education which involves local citizens in conservation and
Educate and empower youth through C.A.R.E.'s Education and Awareness program.
C.A.R.E. is a non-profit organisation without any government funding or major sponsors to cover the day-to-day costs (which exceeds on average R180,000 per month ($18,000) or R6,000 every day ($600).

C.A.R.E. has been built to what it is today thanks to the help and love of dedicated and caring people who want to use their lives to make a difference. C.A.R.E. needs volunteers in order to provide the best possible care to the animals at the centre. The volunteers assist with the hand-rearing of infants, making bottles and food, caring for the adult and sanctuary baboons, making enrichment, cleaning enclosures, observing interactions/integrations, rennovating and maintaining enclosures, reserve management (C.A.R.E. is within a Big 5 Nature Reserve) and much more. Presently the management and all the foreign long-term staff are volunteers. At C.A.R.E. volunteers make friends for life and leave with a deep, heartfelt appreciation for baboons and South African wildlife. People come to C.A.R.E. with various backgrounds, skills and talents. Each and every volunteer becomes part of the C.A.R.E. family and making memories and friends which last a lifetime.
C.A.R.E.'s Volunteer Programme is also vital to the successful running of C.A.R.E. as it provides 80% of the funds to run the centre and 50% of the work force. We would not be where we are, or be able to achieve our goals of freedom for the baboons, if it weren't for the helping hands of people all over the globe.
